Step back into yesteryear!!! This 1897 limestone and cedar sided cottage is tucked away on the serene West bank of the Des Plaines River (no flood insurance needed.) Spend mornings, afternoons and late nights enjoying the River's scenery -- from ducks to barges to luxury yachts...you'll see it all! Gorgeous original wood floors grace the spacious living room. The main floor also offers a bedroom, large eat-in kitchen with pantry and a full bath with laundry hookup. The staircase has unique split wall for moving convenience. Upstairs is bedroom #2 and the bright loft (which could easily be bedroom #3.) Full basement is a historic cellar with exposed thick limestone walls and bedrock foundation floor. The basement houses the utilities and offers ample storage space. Recent upgrades include plumbing, new gas and sewer lines, new windows in 2023 and the tear-off roof is still under warranty! Large backyard for entertaining. NOTE...the North end of this isolated block turns into the Broadway Greenway along Route 66! Behind your large yard is a grassy park-like area AND there's a public boat launch right on this block! Downtown Joliet commuter train and (soon to be) high speed rail is just 1 mile away. Easy access to I-80, too! Stop paying rent and OWN this amazing piece of Joliet history!
